Mr. Mitchell has been involved in Emergency Response and Management since 1974. In 2010 he founded BJ Mitchell & Associates LLC an "All Hazard Safety Consulting" Service (Veteran Owned Small Business). BJ Mitchell & Associates is a Full Function Safety Consulting Service developing partnerships with Clients to obtain compliance with their Safety & Training requirements. These partnerships assist with projects, and Plan Compliance, allowing for continuity throughout daily operations. Prior to starting his company, Brant was the Corporate Health & Safety Administrator for Marine Pollution Control Corporation/MPC Environmental. In this position he implemented strategies to change and improve Health and Safety to the best levels obtained in corporate history.
His expertise is a diverse balance involving all aspects of Emergency Response and education, [Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Service, Fire Service, and Hazardous Material/Oil Spill Response] fine-tuned over his professional career. He received his Bachelor Business Administration [BBA] – Management from Davenport University. He served in the United States Navy; Construction Battalions (SEABEES) as a Heavy Equipment Operator. Over his career, Brant has developed implemented operational protocols and managed Medical First Responder Units, Hazardous Materials Teams, and a Countywide Critical Incident Stress Debriefing Team. Mr. Mitchell has also developed Confined Space Training Programs including Entry, Attendant, Supervisor & Entry Rescue Team Operations, which have been reviewed and approved by the State of Michigan - Department of Labor Energy & Economic Development – Michigan Occupational Safety & Health (MIOSHA) - CET. Recently Brant has certified his canine in Search and Rescue.
In addition to Brant’s accomplishments above, highlights of his certifications include; Fire Service Operations [Fire Officer I, Fire Fighter II], Hazardous Material/Oil Spill Response [Hazardous Material Safety Officer, Oiled Wildlife Response], and Heavy Technical & Confined Space Rescue. He also is certified by National Safety Council as an Instructor for First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation, Train the Trainer for Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) through Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), and Hazmat Train the Trainer. Besides receiving training in Management, Supervision, and Emergency Management/Response other certifications include; Incident Command Systems, Hazardous Material Safety Officer, Safety Administrator, Fire Fighter Health and Safety; Implementation and Management, Fire Fighter Safety and Survival, Breathing Air Technician, and 80-Hour Advanced HazMat Technician plus many others.
